ASOPRS Spring Scientific Symposium 2015

The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery held their Spring Scientific Symposium at the Frenchman’s Reef and Morning Star Marriot in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands this past weekend May 14-17 2015. Spring Program Chair, TOC’s Dr. Vik Durairaj, personally crafted the program with member case presentations and sections focusing on ocular oncology, pathology and photographic technique. TOC physicians were on hand, presenting various topics along with other physicians in the field of oculofacial plastic surgery. Dr. John Shore spoke about MRD documentation and photo technique for insurance companies and Dr. Sean Blaydon spoke on the nuances of coding eyelid lesions and incidence of sharps injuries in an oculofacial plastic surgery ambulatory surgery center. Our new TOC fellow Emily M. Bratton, MD spoke on restoration of orbital volume and malar projection in undertreated and delayed presentation of zygomaticomaxillary complex fractures. Lastly, Dr. Tanuj Nakra discussed the essentials of fat transfer in oculofacial plastic surgery. Overall, our physicians shared their knowledge, experience and ideas with friends and new colleagues in the world of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Our physician’s look forward to attending the Fall Scientific Symposium at Caesar’s Palace Las Vegas, NV in November!
