Earlobe repair is a minor surgical procedure used to restore the shape and continuity of the earlobe after elongation, tearing, splitting, trauma, or large gauge-piercing damage.
In the procedure, the earlobe is carefully recontoured and aligned to restore a natural inferior border and appropriate thickness. Patients generally avoid earrings and significant tension on the repair during healing. Re-piercing is typically delayed for approximately several months and should be performed away from the original scar.
Common indications include split/cleft earlobe, traumatic earlobe tear, stretched piercing, heavy-earring elongation, gauge-related deformity, or revision of previous earlobe repair.
