Both Botox Cosmetic® (onabotulinumtoxinA ) and Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA) are injectable neuromodulators used to temporarily reduce the appearance of dynamic facial wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle activity. When injected into targeted facial muscles, they decrease muscle contractions, resulting in a smoother, more refreshed appearance while maintaining natural facial expression.
Both are commonly used to treat glabellar lines (“11s”) between the eyebrows and may also be used off-label in other areas of the upper and lower face, including forehead lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, downturned mouth corners, chin dimpling, and platysma bands.
Treatment involves a series of small injections using a fine needle. Most patients experience minimal discomfort and little to no downtime. Results typically begin to become noticeable within several days, with full effect generally developing over approximately 1–2 weeks. Results are temporary and commonly last approximately 3–4 months.
